Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by a single point after his victory in Mexico City recently, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, lying with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he spun at Turn Four during the early running.
The Japanese slid over the track edges before sliding over the run-off area, and was lucky to escape with just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the very end of the practice, rotating twice through the fast downhill Mergulho turn before the last turn on to the pit straight.
The veteran wrapped up in P19, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's car third fastest, 0.619 seconds slower than the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
